Social media challenges are nothing new — from ice buckets to dance-offs, celebrities have been having fun hopping on the latest viral trends. The newest craze to hit Instagram and TikTok is all about balance — literally! And now, The Young and the Restless star Michelle Stafford has officially joined the fun.
In a hilarious and daring video posted to her official Instagram, Michelle Stafford, who plays the iconic Phyllis Summers on the CBS soap, attempted the viral "balancing challenge" — and even threw down a challenge of her own. The Emmy-winning actress called out her co-star Amelia Heinle (Victoria Newman), saying, “I challenge Amelia Heinle, go girl!”
Stafford didn’t take on the challenge alone, though. She had some behind-the-scenes support — and comedic commentary — from her young son, Jameson, who acted as her cameraman. Not only did he capture the whole stunt on video, but he also provided a running commentary that had fans laughing.
The video opened with Stafford watching clips of others attempting the challenge — balancing on random objects like blocks, pans, and even weights. Then came her turn. She stacked up three cooking pots, slipped into a pair of white high heels, and called out to Jameson to start filming.
Before she even attempted the stunt, Michelle paused to ask her son a very “mom” question — was she setting a good example by doing this? Jameson didn’t miss a beat and replied bluntly, “No.” When she asked why she should do it anyway, he cheekily said, “Because social media says to.” The back-and-forth was both adorable and hilarious, giving fans a glimpse into their playful relationship.
Then came the moment of truth. As Michelle prepared to step up onto the shaky stack of pots, Jameson giggled and shouted, “You’re going to fall!” His warning only added to the suspense — and hilarity — of the clip.
Whether Stafford nailed the challenge or ended up taking a tumble is something you’ll have to see for yourself in the full video on her Instagram. But regardless of the outcome, the attempt itself had fans and fellow soap stars cheering her on.
The Young and the Restless co-star Lauralee Bell (Christine Blair) responded with a simple but supportive, “Nice!” Meanwhile, General Hospital star Tanisha Harper commented, “I’m impressed. Get it girl!” And soap favorite Eva LaRue chimed in with, “Awesome!” The soap community clearly loved watching one of their own dive headfirst into a viral trend — high heels and all.
This fun moment shows that even soap stars love to cut loose and take on a challenge — especially when it includes bonding with family and a good laugh.
So, have you tried the balancing challenge yet? If you have, let us know how it went in the comments. And if you haven’t, maybe Michelle Stafford’s bold attempt will inspire you to stack a few pots and see what happens — just don’t forget to grab a spotter!
